Germs In Space DreamKit Compares Student Findings to Astronauts’ Results

Kits Empower Learners To Be a Scientist on Earth and Connect with Scientists in Space

Germs in Space DreamKits let learners compare their microbial growth to results from International Space Station

BOULDER, CO, November 8, 2018 – This National STEM Day, DreamUp announces the release of the Germs In Space DreamKit, the first in the DreamKit product line. DreamKits empower learners in classrooms, homes, and after school programs using out-of-this-world STEM educational opportunities to connect Earth-based experiments to science conducted by astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS).

The Germs in Space DreamKits are now available on Amazon.com.  Each science kit includes:

  • Experiment materials
  • Exploration Guide with detailed instructions, lessons on space, in-depth descriptions of the science behind the experiments, fun activities, and more
  • Access to an online portal to compare learner experiments on Earth with experiments conducted in space on the ISS

Germs in Space

The Germs In Space science kit provides directions and materials to safely grow microbes on Earth and compare them to the bacteria and other organisms grown in microgravity on the ISS. Astronauts on board the ISS collected several samples from around the space station to culture in Petri dishes and documented the microbes that grew. The DreamKits allow learners to mimic this procedure by collecting culture samples in their homes or classrooms and growing their own “germs”!

The launch of this innovative educational learning experience opens new frontiers for students of all ages as they learn firsthand about the similarities and differences of conducting experiments on Earth and in space.  The release of DreamKits demonstrates the future of learning for STEM programs and provides access to space for countless learners and young explorers around the globe.

Carie Lemack, CEO and Co-founder of DreamUp commented, “This National STEM Day, we’re excited to provide a cost-effective science kit that allows students to experience what it’s like to be a space scientist.  DreamKits encourage STEM engagement, guiding learners on a path of exploration and scientific curiosity that can shape their future studies and careers, inspiring the next generation of innovators and explorers.”
